2012 Women’s Day Celebration

 

The princesses of Metrorail Western Cape recently celebrated a Women’s Day event at Kwantu Guest House in Milnerton Ridge. Fashion, prizes, give-aways, hot topics, burning issues, motivational talks, women testimonies, you name it...they were galore. Irrespective of the bad weather on the day, the event was well attended!!!

There were motivational speakers such as Vivian Zilo from Iliso Care Society, and Nocwaka Mazaleni , Kwantu Guest House owner, who encouraged women to stand up for themselves and gave words of wisdom on women issues. Sensitive issues that affect women were discussed, amongst topics that were horned into were marriage, sexual harassment, domestic violence, work challenges, attitude and behaviour, wellness in a workplace, support groups, motherhood and single motherhood.

The were loads of gifts and give-aways to cheer the women up...the event was well sponsored by various organisations and companies such as Tsogo Sun, Radisson Hotel, Yemaya Express Nail Bar, Sh’Zen, Rainbow Hair Salon, Sizwe – Sechaba Medical Solutions and SAN Parks.

Zino Mihi, Corporate Affairs Manager, welcoming all women and giving a brief overview about the event and setting the tone for the day

 

 

Lungelwa Mbokoma, Tshawe Communications, was the Programme Director of the day

 

Ladies paid attention to various topics that were discussed on all the tables and were supportive of each speaker who summed up the discussions of each table

 

 

Lumka Yonga from Rolling Stock, quickly wrote a poem about women empowerment and development to show her support for celebrating the annual event

 

 

Vivian Zilo, Iliso Care Society, testifying about life challenges that women encounter

 

 

Nocwaka Mazaleni, owner of Kwantu Guest House, citing her success stories and motivating women to be independent and not to be afraid to take risks in life

 

 

Nombuyisa Juca, Train Ops, was touched about the topics that were discussed on the day

 

 

Patience Matshikiza, Area South, summerizing a topic for her table under domestic violence

 

Ntombizanele Tatase, Area Central, discussing sexual harassment topic

 

 

Phumla Jelemsi, Area North, giving feedback on single parenthood topic

 

Ntomboxolo Zondani, Area Ikapa, gave feedback on marriage issues and was so passionate about the subject

 

 

Linda Brazendale, PRASA Cres, alluding to the topic on the importance of  wellness in the work environment

 

 

Wendi Zweni-Mthintsilana, Area South, giving feedback on motherhood challenges

 

 

Thembi Matutle, Area Ikapa, gave feedback on challenges faced in a workplace

 

Nomaza Sikani, Area South, elaborating more on attitude and behaviour in the workplace
